This privacy policy deals with how firstoptic.co.uk handles ‘Personal Data’ as it is defined in the GDPR (General Data Protection Regulation). Using our contact form
Your name and email address as well as other Information that you provide by filling in a contact form on this site. This is so that we are able to reply to your service enquiry or your general question.

Booking an appointment
Your name and email address as well as other Information that you provide by filling in the appointment form on this site. This is so that we are able to book your appointment.

Mailing lists
Your email address when subscribing to our newsletter. We don't sell, rent or trade email lists with any other organisation or business.

We use a third party provider, MailChimp, to deliver our newsletter. We gather statistics around email opening and clicks using industry standard technologies to help us monitor and improve our newsletter. For more information, please see MailChimp’s privacy notice. You can unsubscribe to general mailings at any time of the day or night by clicking the unsubscribe link at the bottom of any of our newsletter emails.

MailChimp have activated the EU-US Privacy Shield so are qualified and GDPR compliant in order to receive and process your information.

Google Analytics
When you visit our site we use a third party service, Google Analytics, to collect standard internet log information and details of visitor behaviour patterns. We do this to find out things such as the number of visitors to the various pages of our site or what browser is being used. This information is processed in a way which does not identify anyone i.e. does not collect personal data. We do not make any attempt to find out the identities of those visiting our website. We handle personal data for our own business.

Information on our website will be collected in association with your use of a contact form, newsletter signup form or by booking an appointment from our website.

If you contact us using either our online contact form or directly via email, we may keep a record of that correspondence.

When you sign up for our newsletter, only your name and email address is added to our mailing list database, which is handled by MailChimp.

When booking an appointment service our online booking form, only your name, email address and phone number is collected and stored.

Your Personal Data is only stored for the duration of time that it is needed. Data that is stored for the sole use of signing up to our newsletter, will be kept until such data is manually removed by the user by unsubscribing. Which they can do at any time.

Stored data that has been sent via a contact form on our website will be kept for the duration of required communication.

Personal data collected through the booking form will be kept for the duration of required communication.

All ways of collecting personal data on our website are opt-in, and you will always have the opportunity to opt-out. Meaning that in order for us to receive any personal data from you, you will need to actively choose to opt-in when filling out any of the forms on our website.

You will always have the opportunity to unsubscribe to our newsletter at any time.

Data collected and stored on our website is secure and password protected. It is backed up daily and is encrypted on Amazon S3 servers which are GDPR compliant and each backup is kept for 30 days and then deleted.

For clarity, aside from the cookie data collected about your device, firstoptic.co.uk only collects a name and or an email address from certain areas of the website such as a contact form, newsletter signup or booking form. No details of credit cards are ever taken or stored on this website.

If you cannot update your own information, we will correct any errors in the personal data we hold about you within 7 days of receiving written notice from you about those errors.

It is your responsibility to provide us with accurate and truthful personal data. We cannot be liable for any information that is provided to us that is incorrect.
